MAZI Art and Culture Story

Our Story

Where MAZI Began

MAZI is inspired by the word 'Mazingira' (environment) and Pius Matunge's family legacy of healing and leadership. In 2018, Pius united artists and historians to document the biodiversity and culture of the Uluguru Mountains through expeditions organized by Tengeneza Generation (TEG).
